Journey to the Unknown

It's a long journey,
This trip I'm taking against my will,
It's a journey filled with trepidation and ambiguity,
Sorrow and heartbreak,
Yet there are landmarks along the way,
Which point me in the right direction,
Instincts that tell me what I should do,
When making a decision,
At first, before I started on my journey,
I had never known the pain I felt
When this journey began,
But over the mountains, climbing the hills and going through the valleys, the rapids and rivers,
I have learned there is still joy and sometimes laughter,
Sometimes simple pleasure,
And though the night may be dark,
And my journey may be long,
There is a glimmer of dawn's color,
And my journey has helpped me grow,
Made me find out what I'm made of,
Helpped me develop character
And obtain knowledge,
And I know,
That possibilities lay over the horizon,
And opportunity lies around the next corner,
I thank God for my friends,
My family, the people
In my life who have been such an inspiration,
As I go on my journey.

This speaks to me of the kind of knowledge I'm most familiar with, the kind of knowledge that a person can get only from living life, and not from a book or from a lecture. This captures what life is all about, riding it out till the very end and seeing where all things will ultimately lead. Thanks for posting this, I really like it.

Very insightful but I never know if your poems are metaphorical or personal.
Maybe that's where their beauty lies.
